2025 Athletics Ontario Cross Country Championships

The NBLTC attended the Timiskaming District S.S. Invitational Cross Country Meet Thursday October 9th, 2025, at the Nordic Ski Trails in Cobalt.  Eleven (11) members of the Club enjoyed great weather and some great races.  A highlight of the day was the first-place finish of a very closely contested Grade 7/8 Girls race.  The NBLTC girls and another team both finished with 55 points, but our 4th place runner crossed the line ahead of their 4th place runner.  Therefore, the NBLTC girls placed 1st!  Congratulations to all the athletes who competed at the Meet!

• Grade 6 Girls – Adelaide Amell 2nd, Vivianne Collins 14th, Kensie Grabiec 15th (73 Competitors)
• Grade 6 Boys – Ben Haggart 3rd, Rhys Foisy 13th (51 Competitors)
• Grade 7/8 Girls – Leah Lalonde 5th, Josee Blahut 8th, Vanessa Aroh-Coombs 15th, Mya Sears 27th (66 Competitors)

It was a great day for the five (5) NBLTC athletes that attended the ‘Rumble On The Rock’ cross-country running meet in Sudbury September 23rd, 2025. Everyone ran under misty rain conditions, but that did not dampen anyone’s spirit to complete. Even the daunting hills named “The Beast” and “The Wall” did not slow down the athletes from the Saturday morning training group. Ben Haggart started the team off in the Grade 5 & 6 boys race with a 4th place finish out 102 athletes. Next came Adelaide Amell in the Grade 5 & 6 girl’s race. She placed 5th out of 127 athletes. Andre Amell ran the Grade 3 & 4 boy’s race. He had a slight fall on “The Wall” and tweaked his ankle but went on to finish the race in 47th place out of 108 athletes. The grade 7 & 8 girl’s race was won by Sadie Murphy as she place 1st over 68 competitors. Halle Scanlan finished off the day for the NBLTC athletes placing 1st in the Novice girl’s race.

A big thank you to the family support members that made the drive to the meet to give the athletes the opportunity to run against some very good Sudbury runners.

Congratulations to all the NBLTC athletes from the Fall Competitive Training Program for a great day of racing at the Algonquin Barons Cross Country Running Meet. It was a great day of racing under sunny skies and warm temperatures. We registered thirteen (13) athletes from grade 4 to grade 10. Everyone had a strong showing of their potential.
