2026 RCL Nationals
The 2026 Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships took place from August 7–9, 2026, at the Canada Games Athletics Complex in Regina, Saskatchewan.
There were close to 1,00 young athletes competing in the Under-16 (U16) and Under-18 (U18) age categories, including para-athletics.
A Big Congratulations to all three (3) athletes from NBLTC who competed at the Championships. Shea Gore wore the NBLTC colours and Alea Culin and Isabelle Popp were part of the Ontario Provincial Team. All three girls competed in the U16 age category and all three girls medalled.
Alea Culin had a massive person best in the Discus to win the Gold Medal with a throw of 40.92m. She placed 6th in the Shot Put with a throw of 11.33m and placed 7th in the Javelin with a throw of 34.64m.
Shea Gore launched to a personal best of 11.13m in the Triple Jump to win the Bronze Medal. After her knee injury at the Ontario Summer Games the week before, she was fortunate to have her favorite event scheduled first at the Nationals when her legs were fresh. She also placed 11th in the Long Jump and 14th in the High Jump.
Isabelle Popp had a very busy three (3) days of competition. She competed in the Pole Vault, raced heats and finals in both her hurdle races, and competed on both of Ontario’s Relay Teams. Both relay teams medaled: Bronze medal in the 4 x 100m and Silver in the Medley Relay (400m, 200m, 200m, 800m). Izzy placed 4th in the 200m hurdles in 28.30, 8th in the 80m hurdles 12.66 (unfortunately clipped a few), and placed 10th in the Pole Vault 2.45m (the last event of the competition).
Outstanding performances by all three girls at the highest level of competition in Canada!
2026 Ontario Summer Games
The Ontario Summer Games featured 23 different sports hosted in over 19 venues across the region of Kitchener and Waterloo. The event brought together 4,200 athletes between the ages of 12 to 16 over 4 days of competition.
The North Bay Legion Track Club had six (6) outstanding female athletes qualify to the Northern Lights Track and Field Team. The girls achieved several successful results in very hot weather over the two (2) days of competition.
In the U14 age category:
Lexi Gore placed 4th in Javelin 23.25, and 7th in high jump. Sadie Murphy ran 2000m in a time of 7:44.34 for 10th place.
In the U16 age category:
Shea Gore long jumped 4.98m on her first jump of the competition. She injured one of her knees on her next attempted jump and could not compete for the rest of the day. The distance of her first jump won her the bronze medal. Vanessa Aroh-Coombs placed 8th in the 80m hurdles 13.36 and 9th in the 200m hurdles 32.00. Isabelle Popp placed 4th in the 80m hurdles 12.23, 1st in the 200m hurdles 28.17, 2nd in Pole Vault 2.65m and 3rd as a member of the SMR 1600m Northern Lights Relay Team. Alea Culin placed 1st in Discus 39.32m, 4th in Shot Put 10.26m, and 4th in Javelin 28.59m.
2026 RCL Provincials
The RCL Provincial Track and Field Championships were held in Sudbury this year at the Laurentian University Track. The Club had nine (9) athletes competing with the District H Team: Raine Bradley, Annie Buell, Alea Culin, Nathan DeDecker, Shea Gore, Stephanie Moore, Isabelle Popp, Halle Scanlan, and Chloe Desloges. The North Bay athletes had several personal bests throughout the 2-day event. Top six (6) finishes were achieved by:
- Annie Buell (U18 age category): 5th Triple Jump 9.71m, 6th Pole Vault 2.40m
- Alea Culin (U16 age category): 1st Discus 37.61m, 2nd Javelin 32.30m
- Nathan DeDecker (U18 age category): 6th400m hurdles 59.36
- Shea Gore (U16 age category): 5th Triple Jump 10.64m
- Stephanie Morre (U18 age category): 5th 400m hurdles 1:12.06
- Isabelle Popp (U16 age category): 1st 200m hurdles 28.14, 4th 80m hurdles 12.09, 5thPole Vault 2.85m
- Chloe Desloges (U18 age category): 6th Javelin 32.51m
A Big Congratulations to Alea Culin and Isabelle Popp who were selected to the Provincial Team to represent Ontario at the Canadian National Youth Track and Field Championships in Regina Saskatchewan.
2026 RCL District H
Congratulations Everyone!
The North Bay Legion Track Club had a great day at the Royal Canadian Legion District H Meet in Sudbury! Even the weather cooperated to offer a great environment to compete in. It was looking quite threatening around noon, but the system passed through on both sides of us. We had 31 athletes competing. Our bright blue and yellow singlets were readily seen at many events. We had 67 top 6 place finishes, which included 24 gold medals, 16 silver medals, 11 bronze medals, 4 fourth place finishes, 5 fifth place finishes, and 6 sixth place finishes. Legion District H, records were achieved by two (2) North Bay Legion Track Club (NBLTC) athletes:
1. Isabelle Popp U16
- 1st 80 m hurdles – 12.50 sec.
- 1st 200 m hurdles – 28.83 sec.
- 1st Pole Vault – 2.60 meters
2. Alea Culin U16
- 1st Discus – 33.49 meters
The U18 and U16 athletes from NBLTC have been informed they have qualified to be part of the District H Team competing at the RCL Provincial Championships being held at the Laurentian Track in Sudbury July 10th and 11th. Here are the qualifiers:
- Anne Akomah: U18 Triple jump, Long Jump, High Jump
- Raine Bradley: U18 Discus, Triple Jump, Javelin
- Annie Buell: U18 Pole Vault, Triple Jump
- Alea Culin: U16 Shot Put, Discus, Javelin
- Nathan DeDecker: U18 400 m hurdle, 400 m
- Chloe Deloges: U18 Shot Put, Discus, Javelin
- Shea Gore: U16 High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump
- Stephanie Moore: U18 400 m hurdle, 100 m hurdle
- Isabelle Popp: U16 80 m hurdle, 200 m hurdle, Pole Vault
- Halle Scanlan: U16 2000 m, 1200 m
The U14 and U16 athletes are also waiting to hear if they qualified for the Northern Lights Team to the Ontario Summer Games July 31st and August 1st in Waterloo.
A big thank you to James Scanlan for bringing his tent shelter to help keep us warm and dry during the potential downpour of rain, which thankfully, never materialized. A big thank you to the field event coaching staff for their energy and tireless support to the athletes throughout the day: Clint Gore, Duane Culin, Jen Fisher, and Brian Milne. Also, a big thank you to Taryn Wozney (former NBLTC athlete) for helping Coach Jan Faucon throughout the day.
2025 Ontario & National U18 T&F Championships
Congratulations to Dayne Meyer for his 1.90m High Jump performances:

2025 RC Legion Provincials
The 2025 Legion Provincial U16 and U18 Championships were July 11th and 12th at the Track and Field Centre at York University in Toronto.
The North Bay Legion had nine (9) athletes qualify for this meet as part of the District H Team:
- Alea Culin, Emma Culin, Isabelle Popp, Raine Bradley, Shea Gore, Kurtis Weldon, Dayne Meyer, and Chloe Deloges.
The North Bay athletes that placed in the top six (6) were:
- Alea Culin U16 – 6th in Discus, 4th in Javelin
- Emma Cullin U18 – 3rd in Discus
- Raine Bradley U18 – 3rd in Discus
- Shea Gore U16 – 2nd Triple Jump, 3rd High Jump, 3rd, Javelin
- Kurtis Weldon U16 – 3rd 200m
- Dayne Meyer U18 – 3rd Triple Jump, 5th High Jump, 5th Long Jump
The competition was also host to the finals of the top eight (8) ‘Fastest Kids’ in Ontario Competition.
- Audrianna Pizzoferrato from North Bay was one of the qualifiers.
- She raced to a second-place finish in the final in a time of 11.60
